Who we are, and why we're doing this.
Sun Internet was started by a group of people who wanted a different kind of internet provider — one that doesn't answer to shareholders, doesn't try to sell you things you don't need, and one that iterates, learns, shares, and makes the world better.
We're a company limited by guarantee — there are no shareholders, profits are reinvested, and our purpose is openness, honesty, sustainability, community, and impact. Our entire operation — strategy, finances, code, and decisions — is published openly on GitHub. You can see and comment on exactly how this business works, right down to the knowledge graph.
Our Goals
- Build a Positive ISP. No call centres, no frustrations, no secret upselling, no harm, full openness, using the most sustainable tools we can find.
- Give Back. Donate a share of our revenue (once we have it!) to organisations that share our values. All donations will be public on our website, along with the money we make to do them.
- Fair Compensation. Pay ourselves a living salary, when financially viable and as circumstances permit.
- LLM Compatible. We want to host our own models or let you BYOM, to interact with our services and company.

Open-Source Roadmap
We cannot build all our tools right from the start, so we will rely on external partners. But as we learn what it takes to build an ISP, we will share the tools and information.
To build trust and give something back, we commit to open-sourcing our tools over time:
- Operations & Bookkeeping. Our methods, scripts, and ultimately our own bookkeeping system — so anyone can see how a small ISP is run.
- Network Infrastructure. The code and configurations that power our service. Our ambition is to eventually replace proprietary wholesale systems with our own open-source alternatives.
